Details about the upcoming season of Netflix hit series The Witcher has been revealed by showrunner.
Netflix hit series The Witcher turned out to be a lot better than expected. It was a dream come true for both fans of the original Andrzej Sapkowski novels and the hit video game franchise from developer CD Projekt Red.
Earlier this month, Netflix revealed that this title was one of its highest grossing series, next to the sci-fi sensation Stranger Things. Hence, it was not shocking when the company opened a door to bigger and better things in the second season.
Previous season
Basing on the combination of monster hunting, political drama, and catchy bard melodies, The Witcher’s season 1 is certainly one of the best Netflix shows in the present.
The first season revolved around Henry Cavill’s journey as a monster hunter named Geralt in a world known as The Continent. Along the way, he crosses paths with a sorceress named Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) and a young princess named Ciri (Freya Allen). This put him in the middle of a major power struggle in the world around him.
Nevertheless, the series’ first season barely scratched the surface of Sapkowski’s first novel. Thus, fans are eager to see what direction the next season would be heading in next.
Season 2 to dig deeper into villains
Henry Cavill’s The Witcher season two is probably the most anticipated release on Netflix. Unfortunately, before it could get started earnestly, Netflix halted production of all its shows in March as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since then, the series’ status has been up in the air. However, recently, showrunner Lauren Hissrich offered a preview of what viewers should look forward to as the new season arrives. Hissrich took to Twitter to reveal that what she’s most excited about season two is to explore a pair of villains. In the tweet, she stated,
“I can’t wait to dig deeper into Cahir and Fringilla in S2… who they are, why Nilfgaard is important, and where they’ll go from here.”
I can't wait to dig deeper into Cahir and Fringilla in S2… who they are, why Nilfgaard is important to them, and where they'll go from here…. it's one of my favorite parts of the new season. #QuarantineWatchParty #TheWitcher

It appears that Cahir, Fringilla, as well as Nilfgaard will have a larger role to play in the series’ next season.
More about season 2
There will be no more confounding time-skips in season 2 of The Witcher. Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer will travel together in the same time period to make the series a bit easier to follow.
As for the cast, Netflix has already revealed that Henry Cavill (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer) and Freya Allan (Ciri) are all set to return for The Witcher season 2. In addition to that, two new witchers are joining the cast: Lambert, played by Paul Bullion, and Coën, played by Yasen Atour.
