Netflix series’ ‘13 Reasons Why’ season 4 returns for its epic final season

Netflix officially announced that the controversial series 13 Reasons Why is renewed for the fourth and final season.

Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why has been performing well ever since it made its debut. The series gathered faithful fans over the years that are eagerly awaiting to find the narrative of every upcoming season.

However, there have been also controversies raised by the show in the previous seasons. It has attracted a barrage of negative press for its inclusion of a graphic suicide scene in the past which may be part of the reason why Netflix is ending it in the upcoming season.

13 Reasons Why renewed for season 4

The American adolescent dramatization 13 Reason Why is based on Jay Asher’s novel, which was consequently adapted by Netflix as a web series.

Netflix recently announced that 13 Reasons Why will be returning to the platform for season four. The company declared,

“Netflix ordered the production to renew the series for the fourth season.”

With the announcement comes a bittersweet news that the upcoming season will be the series’ last. Kate Walsh, who plays Hannah Baker’s mother, believes that packing up 13 Reasons Why after the fourth season is the correct decision. She stated,

“I think it’s really important creatively when a show has finished to end it. For shows like 13 Reasons Why, or Fleabag is a great example.”

Plot and cast

Details are scarce regarding the plot of the upcoming season but Netflix previously clarified that season four will include the main cast’s High School graduation considering that the cast need to be old enough to end the showcase.

As for the cast members, the following are expected in the upcoming season: Miles Heizer as Alex Standall; Dylan Minnette as Clay Jensen; Katherine Langford as Hannah Baker; Christian Navarro as Tony Padilla; Alisha Boe as Jessica Davis; and Brandon Flynn as Justin Foley.

In addition to that, Monty, played by Timothy Granaderos, hinted in a statement that he might return for season four, but most likely in flashbacks. The actor said,

“There’s always more opportunity for more of his story, but at this moment, who knows?”

There is also a possibility to see some new faces with different personalities in the fourth season.

Trailer and release date

In any case, it is about guaranteed that season four will solidify 13 thrilling episodes like the past three seasons. Although it is expected in mid-year, it will most likely be delayed due to the pandemic.

As of press time, no trailer, or even a teaser was released by the production team. It will probably arrive a few weeks before the official premiere of the series.
