Netflix’s ‘Kingdom: Ashin Of The North’ filming set catches fire

A fire broke out on the shooting of Netflix’s Kingdom: Ashin of the North.

On January 7 at 1:42 p.m. KST, a castle on the Gaeun Open Set of Kingdom: Ashin of the North located in North Gyeongsang Province caught on fire. After an hour, the fire was completely extinguished.

A fire on the set

As a staff member of Kingdom attempted to melt the snow using a torch lamp, a fire broke out. “The fire broke out during the process of melting the snow, and no one was injured,” said a source.

The show has resumed its filming after a thorough inspection of the set. The program then promised to do everything they can to ensure the safety on the set.

As reported by Soompi, the finishing materials on the outer walls of the castle caught fire first. It then caused the wood on the inside to burn.

Furthermore, in the process of extinguishing the fire, part of the castle was destroyed. Nine fire trucks were dispatched to the set.

The highly anticipated bonus story

The special episode bonus story Kingdom: Ashin of the North is an extension of Kingdom season two.

The story will be about Ashin, the mysterious figure Lee Chang’s (Joo Ji Hoon’s) party encountered while heading north. This is during their search for the secret behind the resurrection plant.

After appearing at the ending of season two, Jun Ji Hyun’s character became a hot topic. His character Ashin’s mysterious background will finally be revealed in the upcoming episodes.

In addition to the heir’s story to the Northern Yeojin tribe village, Ashin, the episode will tell the origin story of the resurrection plant.

Park Byung Eun will also be appearing in the special episode. He has left a strong impression as the head of the Royal Commandery Min Chi Rok in Kingdom season two.

Reports about Kingdom: Ashin of the North reportedly started filming last August, and it is confirmed to premiere sometime this year.
