Cyberpunk 2077 has another ad spiel out, featuring everyone’s Keanu Reeves. He’s asking “What you’re looking for,” the answer to it is “a lot.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is taking advantage of Keanu’s presence as much as possible. Nobody knows how many of these ads will come out. The game is a month out, and the hype is real so far.
Keanu asks “why do you come here”
CP2077’s newest Keanu ad has Johnny Silverhand asking “why do you come here.” There are many reasons for it, from fun, power, to a “shock to the system.”
“Because before they put a bullet in you,” Keanu says. “You’ll make this whole city burn.”
Like always, the ad spiel, with Billy Eilish’s Bad Guy in tow, is short and sweet. There’s nothing new revealed through it, but the intent is there. It’s a question that CP2077 players should be answering in their heads: why do they come here?
The game will offer a ton of different experiences and a whole city to burn. Depending on what players want to do, Night City is theirs to take. In a festering dumpster fire of neon and debauchery, it’s up to the player how to own it.
The ad tries to get a little Grand Theft Auto vibe to it. It reminds players that this isn’t about the Lifepath system that the game gives them. Night City is about making the most of this openly depraved open world.
Night City is for the player to take
Cyberpunk 2077 has everything that players would want in a futuristic world. The game features all the best vehicles for every pleasure. The city is alive, with all sorts of fetid vices, moral corruption, and deviances up to the wazoo.
The new trailers for the game focus on the vehicles, especially the latest Night City Wire. Players can steal whatever car they want, and do whatever petty crime they can think of. As long as they can get the coppers off their tail, they are golden.
Even then, CP2077 does not want players to think it’s GTA: Cyberpunk. It’s nothing like it, and it’s nothing that shallow. Everything players do will likely have consequences.
CD Projekt Red’s world is not about becoming another mafia-style character. Players can do that, with all the freedom that the game will afford them. Even then, that’s low-hanging fruit.
Cyberpunk 2077 is there to immerse players in a futuristic world they can call their own. Whether gamers will go corpo, nomad, or street kid, the world is theirs to take. It’s up to the player to decide if they want to own it or burn it to the ground.
