After over two decades, Bethesda is finally going to have a new IP, and that is none other than Starfield. First announced in E3 2018, the upcoming game has since been absent from the news mill, but Todd Howard has some new details about it.
Bethesda was the center of talks within the gaming community last month when it was revealed that the company has been acquired by Microsoft. The company has since been giving small updates about their upcoming titles, and just recently, Todd Howard gave more details about the upcoming Starfield.
Map details teased
In an interview during the Develop:Brighton 2020 conference, Howard talked about the grandness of the map in the upcoming title. For starters, the game is apparently being developed by a team that’s four to five times bigger than the one that worked on Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
As per Howard, the explorable area in the upcoming Starfield will be larger than Appalachia in Fallout 76. We’ve yet to know exactly how big the upcoming game is, but it seems like we can expect a world that’s denser than Skyrim and the New Commonwealth in Fallout 4 in terms of content.
Howard also notes that the cities in the sci-fi game will be far larger than in any of the games that Bethesda has released. Fans can expect that the upcoming game is going to be one of Bethesda’s best RPG experiences to date.
Other details
The game is compared to an RPG experience like Elder Scrolls and Fallout. However, Bethesda is shaking up the game by propelling players into a sci-fi setting. Based on what we know and what we’ve seen so far, the upcoming title might include space travel and more.
We’ve yet to know whether or not the game will have a multiplayer experience. However, Howard is teasing that the game will completely be a single-player experience.
Howard didn’t give a release date about the upcoming game yet. However, he does note that it will launch before Elder Scroll 6. The sixth major Elder Scrolls game doesn’t have a release frame, let alone a release date just yet.
Starfield looks to help Bethesda make up for the shortcomings of their previous titles like Elder Scrolls Blades and Fallout 76. For now, all we can say is that the game is looking like the biggest RPG to ever come out of the developer.
