Overwatch 2 is one of Blizzard’s biggest announcements during Blizzcon 2019, but up until now, the developer has been quiet about the game. Thanks to a listing, however, we’ve found out another crucial detail about the upcoming game.
Blizzard dubs Overwatch 2 as a completely separate game instead of expansion despite what it may look like. Thanks to a new listing, however, we know now that we might be getting a physical copy of the sequel, so players don’t have to stick with going digital.
Physical copy coming
A listing on the German GameStop reveals that a physical copy of the game will be up for retail for $69.99, which puts it up to par with the likes of the latest AAA titles. The listing also confirms that the sequel will be available for current-gen platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. However, that may change once the game launches for the next-gen consoles.
The physical release of the game might be good news for some fans, especially for those who are collectors. However, the pricing itself may raise a few eyebrows considering that Blizzard will only add some story missions in the sequel.
Fans believe that the upcoming sequel is better off being called an expansion instead considering how little it adds to the base game. Still, Blizzard might have other things planned for Overwatch 2, so fans should at least patiently wait when the developers reveal more things about the game.
The upcoming sequel will bring new features into the game, but most importantly, it will push the story of Overwatch forward. Since launching, fans have been longing for the game’s story to make some progress, and it seems like the sequel will be doing just that.
The story will be progressed through story missions that will take place around the world. It will feature 4-player teams of player’s favorite characters from Overwatch. There will be objectives, and players can customize hero abilities as well.
Aside from this, Blizzard will expand the game with new characters like Sojourn. There will be new maps and a new mode called Push as well. These additions will be accessible for those who have Overwatch as well.
Overwatch 2 is Blizzard’s biggest secret kept under wraps. Fans have been longing for more details about the upcoming title, and hopefully, we get to hear some news about it in the coming months.
