Due to its design and some of the rumored spec improvements, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 is among the most anticipated device for this year.
The latest Surface Laptop 3 was an excellent tool that made a few high-quality upgrades and refinements from the previous version. However, Microsoft can also have a comparable plan to release the Surface Laptop 4 this year.
While the design would not be as exciting as the Surface Book 3 or Surface Pro 7, the spec is a captivating story for the Surface Laptop 4. Reviews note Surface Laptop 4 could be a battleground for AMD and Intel CPUs.
Would Microsoft deliver much with the Surface Laptop 4 to win over new users or urge current Surface Laptop owners to upgrade, that remains to be seen.
Surface Laptop 4 price and release date
There aren’t any precise rumors addressing the price of the Surface Laptop 4 yet. However, Microsoft has been constant on its pricing by the first three iterations of the Surface Laptop. That said, the tablet would start at $999 for the 13-inch model and top out at $2,399 for a high-end version.
Microsoft will keep the road on its price for the 15-inch Surface Laptop 4, ranging from $1,299 to $2,799. A possible value shift would be a bump to 256GB as the base storage.
Microsoft has settled into a reasonably reliable cadence with its product releases, and the Surface Laptop 4 must arrive in early October along with the Surface Pro 8 and probable the Surface Duo.
There is some uncertainty due to the current impact of the coronavirus on the delivery chain.
Surface Laptop 4 design and features
The Surface Laptop is the lone conventional laptop Microsoft produces, and it’s far unlikely to get a new design at this time. Naturally, that doesn’t ward off a few changes. However, a reduction in the size of the bezels surrounding its PixelSense display is possible.
If reduction in bezels is possible, it might imply both a bump up in screen size or a moderate drop in the dimensions and weight of the Surface Laptop 4. The latter might be possible for the 13.5-inch version as it’d bring it toward or slightly ahead of for its slimmer and lighter competitors – like the XPS 13, MacBook Pro, and HP Spectre X360 13.
Many people are likely hoping that Thunderbolt 3 would be integrated on the Surface Laptop 4. However, Microsoft has deliberately avoided Thunderbolt 3 because of security concerns. At this point, it seems Microsoft might go for the USB4 instead.

With little exchange predicted to the design, tech enthusiasts might hope for a better trade in regards to specs for the Surface Laptop 4. The current rumors suggest that users won’t be frustrated there.

Tiger Lake-U processor has four cores and eight processors running at 2.7GHz with a 4.3GHz boost clock. Other specs surfaced on this leak includes an 8GB or 16GB of RAM and a choice between 256GB or 512GB of SSD storage.
Still, if Microsoft is going to hold the road at $999, it is probably a necessary choice. The latter, on the other hand, might be an incredible sign if the 128GB SSD option has been dropped.
