Big changes are coming to the iPhone 12, and if recent leaks prove to be true, then prices could start as low as $649.
Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech, a YouTube personality and known tech industry leaker, is rarely wrong with his predictions. Thanks to him, the public knows there will be four different iPhone 12 models. He also accurately predicted that Apple would launch the iPhone SE on April 15.
And now, his recent leaks reveal a shocking turn of events for the iPhone 12’s pricing.
Apple’s price shakeup for the iPhone 12
Prosser recently responded to rumors regarding speculated iPhone 12 prices. After checking with his sources from the tech giant, this is what can be expected from iPhone 12 prices:
- 5.4-inch iPhone 12 (D52G) – OLED / 5G – Dual Cameras – $649
- 6.1-inch iPhone 12 (D53G) – OLED / 5G – Dual Cameras – $749
- 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro (D53P) – OLED / 5G – Triple Cameras + LiDAR – $999
- 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max (D52G) – OLED / 5G – Triple Cameras + LiDAR – $1,099
If this proves to be accurate, then the iPhone 12’s entry-level smartphone would cost only $649. Compared to the iPhone 11’s entry-level version, which was $700, there is a significant drop in price.
Been seeing some reports speculating on iPhone 12 prices, so I asked my sources 👇
5.4 iPhone 12 D52G

$6496.1 iPhone 12 D53G
OLED / 5G
2 cam
$7496.1 iPhone 12 Pro D53P

$9996.7 iPhone 12 Pro Max D54P
OLED / 5G
3 cam + LiDAR
$1,099— jon prosser (@jon_prosser) April 30, 2020
However, it is also important to note that the iPhone 11’s entry-level device was 6.1 inches. Prosser’s predictions would mean that the iPhone 12’s 6.1-inch version is more expensive than the iPhone 11 at $749.
While only time could confirm the validity of these reports, it wouldn’t hurt to trust Prosser given his reputation. He also accurately predicted the prices of the Galaxy S20 lineup before Samsung made the announcement.
Furthermore, Prosser reveals that the sources of this information are the same ones who provided him information regarding the iPhone SE launch.
Apple enters the 5G game
Apple’s next flagship iPhone will also be the company’s first foray into 5G connectivity. All of the four models will have 5G capability, not just the premium ones. Apple is reportedly working with Samsung and Qualcomm to enable both a 5G connection on both the mmWave and sub-6GHz spectrum.
It’s about time Apple made its move to 5G connectivity. It’s closest rival, Samsung, has been releasing 5G capable phones since last year. So far, this will be one of the biggest improvements seen in any Apple device.
Release
There is no word yet on when Apple will launch the next generation of iPhones. While the company is known to release in the period starting September, the company may decide on a much later date.
The coronavirus threat has put a dent on every business operation, not just with Apple. The repercussions the pandemic will have on the economy is also something Apple will be considering for the iPhone 12.
