In a major piece of news, the California tech giant has begun production on its next-gen, super-powerful Apple M2 chip for Mac series.
The latest report from Nikkei Asia recently confirmed that Apple M2 processing chips have now entered mass production.
Last year, unveiled the first generation of the company’s Mac chips.
Apple M2: What to expect?
The report states that the Apple M2 chip will take three months to produce. And they could begin shipping as early as July to be incorporated in the upcoming Macs.
Here’s an excerpt from Nikkei Asia’s report:
“The next generation of Mac processors designed by Apple entered mass production. Sources familiar with the matter told Nikkei Asia, the U.S. tech giant one step closer to its goal of replacing Intel-designed central processing units with its own.”
Now, the Apple M2 will be faster, no doubt. However, there’s still no clarity regarding how much more powerful it will be!
And it will take some time for any benchmarks to come out since the new chip has just entered production.
One thing is undoubtedly confirmed, though. That the new M2 processor will blow away the competition, once again, just like M1 did last year.
Future Apple announcements in 2021
Meanwhile, the iPhone maker is busy with its slate of 2021.
It will try to repeat the success of 2020 in this calendar as well, with exciting surprises.
Speaking of surprises, then there’s a major event coming this June.
The WWDC virtual session will take place from June seven to eleven. Its main highlight is going to be the next software version, iOS 15.
Like iOS 14, iOS 15 is supposed to bring a ton of UI improvements and privacy-based features. Plus, it might change the way users interact with widgets!
Furthermore, the Apple Watch line-up will also upgrade with Series 7 in the second half of the year.
However, the most significant moment will arrive in late September. Its because it will reportedly reveal the next generation of Apple’s iconic smartphone series.
iPhone 13 is already surrounded by multiple rumors and speculations.
So far, many substantial leaks have claimed that it might come up with a faster 120Hz display, larger battery, and 1TB storage option.
Coming back to the Apple M2 chip, then there’s still time in its official launch.
