NFL star Rob Gronkowski issues ‘Warzone’ challenge on Ninja and FaZe Clan

Three-time Super Bowl champ Rob Gronkowski is challenging Ninja and FaZe Clan on Call of Duty: Warzone, and it’s for a good cause.

Two worlds collide as football star Rob Gronkowski issues a challenge on two of the biggest names in eSports, Ninja and FaZe Clan, for a charity Call of Duty: Warzone game.

The novel coronavirus has brought much fear to the world, and in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone has a part to play. By staying at home and following social distancing protocols, people are able to help stop the spread of the virus.

Governments are doing all they can to help contain the virus. But in this fight, many would agree that it is the health workers, the so-called front-liners, who are facing the most danger. Because of this, the entertainment industry will be coming together for a massive charity event to benefit the front-liners, first responders, their families, and the people most affected by the virus.

Rob Gronkowski, formerly of the New England Patriots and now a tight end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has gone out of his way to challenge two of the biggest names in eSports: Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, and the FaZe Clan.

The challenge was made out of goodwill, thankfully, and will be a part of the COV-AID, which is an upcoming live-streaming music, gaming, and eSports event on May 5, 2020. The three-time Super Bowl champion issued the challenge via Twitter, posting a video of himself holding a bat and declaring he would be coming for everyone on Warzone.

He specifically called out Ninja and FaZe Clan to join him in the Warzone charity tournament.

Ninja answers the call

Ninja is no stranger to charity tournaments, having just recently participated in a fundraising event organized by fellow streamer and content creator, MrBeast, which raised over $1,000,000. The 28-year-old had also donated quite the amount to charitable organizations like Feeding America.

And he is certainly not backing down from a challenge, regardless if it was issued by a Super Bowl champ. Ninja tweeted a reply saying, “I’ll be there” to Gronk.

While there is no word as of yet on FaZe Clan’s participation, the eSports organization had also been hosting charity tournaments left and right. In fact, last March, they teamed up with music producer Marshmello for a Warzone tournament, which raised about $50,000 for charity.

But before the Warzone match between Gronk and Ninja, the former first promised a Madden match with Lil Jon.

About COV-AID

COV-AID is described as a “massive multiplatform one-day online streaming charity event.” This event will happen on May 5, 2020, and will feature over 10 hours of live-streams and content aimed at raising money to help support the first responders, the front-line health workers, and the people most affected by the pandemic.

In the time of the novel coronavirus, the barrier between the music, sports, and gaming industries has become non-existent as celebrities come together for charity.
