The crypto industry remains to be a male-dominated digital jungle, but just like how other industries have evolved in the past, it is expected that it would soon be populated by women. But the question is, how?
The answer? Through NFTs.
According to Lavinia Osbourne, Women in Blockchain Talks founder and host, NFTs can serve as a gateway to spark interest among women to enter into the crypto space.
Riches can spark crypto interest
“When they’re hearing all these stories about people making money on NFTs, it’s like ‘how can I get involved?” Osbourne said.
She added the sparkles surrounding NFTs can softly introduce women into cryptocurrency, which is important because they are usually not attracted to the crypto technology.
Also, with various limitations and problems caused by the ongoing pandemic such as losing jobs or physically going to the banks, more people, especially women, would see the benefits of cryptocurrencies.
And with the growing number of reasons to use cryptocurrencies, more and more women would certainly be encouraged to be involved with them.
More women needed
According to Osbourne, women only make up 34% of the tech industry while only 12% make up the blockchain space.
Osbourne is advocating for more women in both tech and blockchain tech industries because until now, women are still underrepresented in these ever-growing spaces.
She said that career longevity can be found in these industries, that is why women should seriously consider entering these spaces, even if they look intimidating at first glance.
Osbourne also added: “We need to shine a spotlight on women so that other women can see those other women and feel comfortable to know that this space is for them as well.”
