New reports have revealed that MCU’s Nick Fury-based Disney Plus series will start shooting in 2021. Samuel L. Jackson is coming soon!
According to Comicbook, the Nick Fury series starring Samuel L. Jackson will go into production next year.
It’s already known for months that the former S.H.I.E.L.D. boss will make a comeback in phase four of MCU. And he will do that in his own solo TV show on Disney’s streaming platform.
However, it wasn’t known when the show would start shooting. But now, things are looking much clear.
“Nick Fury” Disney Plus MCU series early details
As of now, rumors suggest that Nick will return as the head of a new SWORD agency. And this is obvious to assume since we saw that famous post-credits scene in Spider-Man: Far From Home in 2019. The scene showed him on a spaceship in outer space. And several Skrulls were also with him.
So, it’s certain that after the events of Avengers: Endgame, something more powerful of an organization is needed to protect the Earth. Like in the Marvel comics, the MCU version of SWORD will play an important role in that direction. Fans know about the objectives and priorities of this agency. And in the upcoming new phases of the franchise, it might turn out a key connection between the characters.
The current reports say that the Nick Fury series will start filming in mid-2021.
Interestingly, there’s a short story behind the development of this future solo TV show for actor Samuel L. Jackson. Actually, in the past, he had an interaction with the head Kevin Feige regarding his smaller roles in the MCU. While talking about this, Feige previously expressed his thoughts. Here’s an excerpt:
“He shows up in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and when he’s not in Captain America: Civil War and hadn’t been in a number of the movies for a while. I remember meeting with him two years ago and saying, ‘I know it’s been a while, Sam. Here is our plan. 2019 is going to be the year of Fury.’ And we walked him through young, two-eyed Fury in Captain Marvel, the one poignant shot of him in Endgame and seeing him in [Spider-Man]. And it’s fun now to see the year of Fury complete.”
New Marvel Studios content is coming soon
Meanwhile, there’s a lot of Marvel centric content about to come in 2021. January will see the arrival of WandaVision, eventually. Phase four will then go on further with Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Eternals will then release in November.
Apart from the films, Disney Plus will see new shows like Ms. Marvel. Production of titles like Moon Knight and She-Hulk will also begin along with the Nick Fury series.
