‘Nier: Replicant’ system requirements for PC revealed

Share

Upcoming title Nier: Replicant has now released its system requirements for the PC. The international release will work for many low-end PCs now.

Nier: Replicant came out as a Japanese PS3-exclusive title in 2010. Now, Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139 is coming out to all platforms to the west. The PC version on Steam has already published the specs you need to play.

Replicant system requirements on Steam

Replicant has now updated its Steam page to reflect what players would need to play the game. The game, announced in March 2020 but opted to release in April 23 this year, now has its specs ready.

Here are the specs for the game:

Minimum Requirements (60 FPS @ 1280×720):

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 1300X or Intel Core i5-6400
  • Memory: 8GB
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 270X or Nvidia GeForce GTX 960
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 25GB
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card

Recommended (60 FPS @ 1920×1080):

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 1300X or Intel Core i5-6400
  • Memory: 16GB
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 25GB
  • Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Sound Card

So far, the specs listed are not too demanding at all. These can be found with at least the average gamer’s PC and they likely even have better specs for it. The only real hindrance anyway is the 16GB RAM, but that’s mostly standard these days.

New Nier will be a “version up”

Nier: Replicant is neither a remake nor a remaster, but it’s not the old game either. Much of the gameplay will still be the same as its previous iteration. Even then, producer Yusuke Saito calls it a “version up.”

According to the producer, the game will now have voiced lines, additional content, and better music. The scores, for example, will still come from the original composer. There’s also a new ending teased for the game.

Nier itself was a middling game at the time, receiving a very lukewarm reception from gamers. It sold somewhere around half a million copies worldwide while selling somewhere around 130,000 in Japan.

The game suffered from “lifeless visuals”, which the re-release likely aims to correct. With new technology, the game should have a much better design. Its sequel, Nier: Automata, sold as many as 4.85 million copies, created more buzz for Nier.

Nier: Replicant will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox One X/S. PC gamers can expect a very polished game very soon.
