Publisher Koei Tecmo announced the upcoming Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection coming to Steam. The collection will consist of three of the best mainline titles for the franchise. The rereleased was announced at today’s Nintendo Direct Showcase.
Among the many games not on the PC, Ninja Gaiden was among the most famous. Together with games like Bloodborne, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Fire Emblem, Ninja Gaiden has one of the biggest fanbases – and for a reason.
The stealth-action hack-and-slash title is smooth and clearly among the best titles of all time. The game itself started as an arcade and home console title in 1988, with the first home release for the NES.
At the time, the entire thing was a side-scrolling title, similar to Strider in 1989. The modern iteration of the game, however, became among the most successful versions of the franchise.
The modern Ninja Gaiden released for the original Xbox in 2004 and was a smash hit in the west. Subsequent titles for the game came out in succeeding consoles, but never for the PC. The version PC gamers got was a crude spin-off in Ninja Gaiden Z.
Now, the game will come out on PC and almost every other modern platform.
Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection will be available on Steam for PC gamers soon. Even then, it’s not an exclusive treat for them. The rerelease will also come to the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. It will likely be playable with the current-gen consoles too.
“Three extremely high speed and intense ninja action games are now available in one package,” says the page description. “Enjoy 3 games from the NINJA GAIDEN series in this single collection. The nostalgic yet timeless high-speed action of the series unfolds on the latest hardware, so look forward to heated battles with fearsome opponents!”
The collection will include Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge. There’s no word yet if there are graphical improvements on the game, but the entire franchise still holds up.
The games will also come with all characters, from Ryu Hayabusa to heroines like Ayame, Momiji, Rachel, and Kasumi. What won’t be available with the rerelease, however, are the online stuff like Tag Missions, and other modes.
Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection will come to all consoles on June 10. PC gamers can get the title on Steam, while the game is available on most digital storefronts.
