The 1997 blockbuster N64 shooter Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter is bringing its remastered version over to Sony’s current-gen console—the PlayStation 4.
Turok has come a long way since his debut on Nintendo’s 64-bit console, as he found his dinosaur-slaying self eventually being ported to the PC, Xbox One, and most recently the Nintendo Switch.
Now, the hunter seems to be on the move once more, after a leaked trophy list for a PlayStation 4 version started making rounds on the internet.
Current developer and publisher Nightdive Studios has yet to officially announce a PS4 version, though the submission of trophy information all but confirms the latest port’s existence.
Apparently there are rumors of a #turok remaster in the works. I would 100% play that if it turns out to be true 🙂 pic.twitter.com/I9WdaHshhQ

No trophy gets by Exophase
Exophase is a video game website that “specializes in trophy and achievement tracking.” So it comes as no surprise that they would be the first to break news of the Turok PlayStation 4 trophy list.
Trophy hunters are in for a bit of a letdown, however, as the upcoming PS4 remaster is not only missing a platinum trophy, but only features 10 trophies altogether, four of which are bronze, five are silver, and a solitary gold one to cap things off.
With the Turok port still being unannounced, the list isn’t exactly set in stone, although at this point adding additional trophies seems fairly unlikely.

The legacy of Turok
Turok began his video game journey as a Nintendo 64 exclusive called Turok: Dinosaur Hunter back on March 4, 1997, originally developed by Iguana Entertainment and published by Acclaim.
The first-person shooter was met with glowing reviews from fans and critics, earning its spot as the most sought-after title during the months surrounding its release. Players loved the game’s solid controls, stellar graphics, and spot-on shooting mechanics.
Turok made its first move over to the PC in November of the same year, eventually getting remastered for the Xbox One and Switch in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
It’s stunning commercial success made the action title a shoe-in for a sequel, which was also released on the N64 in 1998, and was called Turok 2: Seeds of Evil. Similar to its predecessor, Seeds of Evil was extremely well-received on account of the plethora of improvements it made upon the original.
From there, the series received a popular third mainline sequel, a lackluster prequel, a non-canon spin-off, and a franchise reboot in 2008 that received lukewarm reviews.

With an aggregated Metacritic score of 73/100, the Turok Switch remaster did pretty well considering it’s the updated edition of a 23-year-old, fully 3D shooting game. Sony fans who have a penchant for the retro or are simply looking for a blast of nostalgia may want to pick this shooter up upon its imminent PS4 release.
