Nintendo Switch sales continue to grow over the past months. Nintendo reported that it has now sold over 61.44 million units since its launch.
The COVID-19 pandemic started a surge in the gaming industry. Nintendo Switch sales benefitted a lot from the said phenomenon as seen in its latest sales report.
Nintendo Switch’s tabletop and handheld mode gave it an edge over its competition. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC does not have that feature. This makes the Switch an ideal choice for people who are on the go.
Switch ready to take on NES lifetime sales
Last 2019, the Switch overtook the lifetime sales of the SNES. Now, it is on its way to overtake the NES. The classic NES has sold a total of 61.91 million units during its lifetime.
Nintendo Switch continues to sell like hotcakes as it continues to get sold out everywhere.
With that being said, it is highly likely that the Switch will be the best selling Nintendo console ever. The gap between the NES and Switch today is too small. One big hit from Nintendo and it will easily take over the old console.
However, the Switch is still far from taking the top spot. Here are the top-selling Nintendo consoles so far.
- Nintendo DS – 154.02 million
- Game Boy – 118.69 million
- Wii – 101.63 million
- Game Boy Advance – 81.51 million
- Nintendo 3DS – 75.71 million
- NES – 61.91 million
The Nintendo Switch is still on its second refresh though. It looks like there is no follow up to the console yet. That considered, there is still a huge chance that it will sell more units in the upcoming months.
The pandemic is still going on and it seems like there is no end to it yet. It is highly anticipated that the Nintendo Switch sales will continue to rise.
