Nintendo Switch is doubling the fun for Sonic fans as two new games are coming this October. Eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted the two titles as it popped up online.
There is no official announcement from Sega yet regarding the two games. However, Amazon already set up a pre-order page with a US$39.99 price tag. The two-game bundle will arrive on October 26 for the Nintendo Switch.
The two games include Sonic Mania and Team Sonic Racing. The first game came out in 2017 while the latter arrived in 2019.
What are these games?
Sonic Mania is a side-scrolling platform game released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch three years ago. This game commemorates the 25th anniversary of the whole Sonic series.
Meanwhile, Team Sonic Racing is a racing game where Sonic the Hedgehog characters compete in race karts. Features include drifting, power-ups, and other tricks.
The main difference between this game and other racing games is teamwork. Other kart games often proceed with single-player competitions. But the cooperative gameplay of Team Sonic Racing makes it similar to Splatoon 2.
Is the bundle worth getting?
Sonic Mania received positive reviews when it came out. It is a great platformer game where players can choose between Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Each character has their own set of abilities.
For lovers of Sonic and platform games, Sonic Mania alone is a great reason to purchase the double-pack.
As much as Sonic Mania is great, Team Sonic Racing did not fare well in comparison to other games. The features are great, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still a better racing game.
That being said, it is rare to see Nintendo Switch games go on sale. The $39.99 price tag for these two games is already a steal. Get it for the Sonic Mania and think of Team Sonic Racing as a huge bonus title.
