Capcom has now confirmed that it won’t be able to add crossplay or cross-save in Monster Hunter: Rise, citing implementation issues within the game.
Monster Hunter: Rise players are preparing once the game comes to PC and many are looking forward to playing it on a different platform. Even then, many won’t be able to double-dip as Capcom confirmed they are unable to implement crossplay or cross-save. The dev studio did not elaborate on the details.
Capcom unable to implement simple feature
Rise first launched on Switch earlier this year in March. The game became one of the fastest-selling Monster Hunter titles of all time while providing a more traditional experience than MH: World. The introduction of the game came with several perks, including canine mounts and superb movement.
We’ve heard your requests for Cross-Save / Cross-Play for #MHRise & #Sunbreak, but unfortunately, after looking into it throughout the development process, we found we are unable to implement it this time. As always, we appreciate your continued feedback and support.

Even with many newbies struggling with the game’s controls, MH: Rise still became an immediate hit. With that said, players are looking forward to enjoying the game on the PC for a richer experience. Capcom has now said on Twitter that it cannot add the much-requested crossplay feature, as well as cross-save.
“We’ve heard your requests for Cross-Save / Cross-Play for Monster Hunter Rise & Monster Hunter Sunbreak, but unfortunately, after looking into it throughout the development process, we found we are unable to implement it this time. As always, we appreciate your continued feedback and support,” said Capcom.
Capcom consistent with lack of crossplay, cross-save
The inability of Capcom to implement cross-save and crossplay for Monster Hunter: Rise likely comes from a technical standpoint. The Nintendo Switch version may have entirely different programming than its PC counterpart.
It’s not the first time that Japanese game devs did not think of such features ahead. Many hardcode their saves into the platform and likely would take a major undertaking from Capcom to do. The wording of the tweet implies they’ll keep trying but it won’t likely happen for this game.
With Rise being a game about constant progression, it’s a big disappointment to be unable to move to a different platform. The fact that players can’t enjoy their accounts on PC is problematic, considering how technically better and more beautiful the PC version will likely be.
If anything, Capcom is consistent with their disappointing behavior, as Monster Hunter: World doesn’t have cross-save and crossplay too. This makes Capcom weird with how they can’t implement a feature that is mostly easy but useful implementation for players.
Monster Hunter: Rise is coming to PC on January 12, 2022. The game will have solid features like 4K support and ultrawide resolution, as well as uncapped framerates. Sunbreak, the game’s first expansion, will release simultaneously on PC and Switch summer 2022.
