Rupert Grint welcomed a baby girl together with longtime girlfriend Georgia Groome last Thursday. Ron Weasely actor may not have plans to name his firstborn with any Harry Potter reference.
Just last week, People received confirmation from a representative that Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are now proud parents of a beautiful baby girl.
The representative of both parties had this to say in a statement, “Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl,” and added, “We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time.”
Rupert Grint has since been planned to settle down
The news about the couple expecting a baby was only announced last April. The pair has been together since 2011 and Grint previously said in an interview with The Guardian in 2018 that he wanted to settle down and have kids as the actor turns 30.
Turning 30 felt strange. It just doesn’t feel like I’m there yet and I don’t know what the future holds. I’m just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters and see what happens. I’d like to settle down and have kids soon.
No Harry Potter reference for baby names
During the same 2018 interview, Grint rejected the idea of naming his child after his Harry Potter character. He said “If I had a son, would I call him Ron? It’s quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint’s a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with.”
This would only mean that the names Hermione or Ginny might also be not a great fit. The wizarding world may have been closed to Grint’s heart after years of movie production, but naming his child after one of the HP characters is highly unlikely.
As of the moment, as representatives have told media outlets, the new parents asked for privacy at this time.

Daniel Radcliffe excited for on-screen best friend
Meanwhile, Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe has already expressed his joy and eagerness for the couple prior to Groome giving birth. Radcliffe spoke with The Inquirer saying “I’m sure he’s going to be an amazing dad … As soon as I found out, I texted him.”
Radcliffe continued to say, “I’m incredibly happy for him. He and Georgia have been together for a while. It’s really exciting. It is crazy to think because it’s in my head. It still feels like we’ve basically just met and we are about 16 years old.”
Grint recently made news by thanking a midwife for her “Gryffindor Behavior” amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The actor and now proud father surprised the midwife together with actress Miriam Margolyes who played Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter franchise during a virtual chat.
The pair thanked Sam Halliwell, a 33-year-old midwife who is working on the frontline at Birmingham Women’s Hospital in England.
