Premier exploration title No Man’s Sky will get an update next week. The update, called Origins, will be another step to fulfilling Hello Games’ promise four years ago.
Hello Games is still working on No Man’s Sky to make good on their launch promise. An upcoming update called Origins will expand the game even further. While the studio has not detailed actual content, they say it’s a big one.
Origins will be a big update
NMS has become a much different game compared to its launch version. During its launch, the people overhyped the title too much. The end results gave players a sad, barren wasteland that was not worth the wait.
Hello Games at the time receive a ton of ridicule from the community. Their game became the center of cautionary tales about hype and expectation. Four years later, the studio transformed their once disappointing game to something fans appreciate.
NMS is now a superb space exploration game, and it’s about to get bigger with Origins. Sean Murray, Hello Games co-founder, noted that they would release something big.
“Four years ago we announced FOUNDATION, our first major update for No Man’s Sky, we promised ‘It won’t be our largest update, but it is the start of something.’ says Murray in a blog. “Those words were true at the time, and they ring true for Origins. We called it Origins because it is the beginning of something new, as No Man’s Sky continues to grow and evolve.
Beyond came out last year, bringing VR and hugely expanded Online play, and since then we have focused on releasing more regular updates. SYNTHESIS, BYTEBEAT, LIVING SHIP, EXO MECH, CROSSPLAY, and DESOLATION have been some of our most popular, surprising and transformative updates – leading No Man’s Sky to have its biggest year to date.
We know there is a huge appetite in the community for No Man’s Sky content, and the team has worked our socks off this year to deliver in difficult circumstances. We have been quiet, but we are always listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.”
Patch notes for upcoming update will come next week
No Man’s Sky does not have any patch notes, changes, or content information so far. Everything will come out next week, but it’s an exciting development amidst Hello Games’ new title in the works. The last update, Desolation, was a horror update that added haunted wreckages.
Origins will likely focus on more primordial elements of the galaxy. The story will likely benefit a lot from it, considering it’s all about exploration. The update should also add more about the player character’s background and hint at a larger play at hand.
No Man’s Sky and its new Origins update will come out later this week. Nobody knows what’s coming, so fans should expect the unexpected going in.
