‘No Time To Die’ becomes highest-grossing 2021 movie

Daniel Craig’s last outing as James Bond, No Time To Die, has finally claimed the number one spot at the box office, defeating F9.

As per the latest reports, No Time To Die has become the highest-grossing movie of 2021. It just went past F9‘s global collections.

‘No Time To Die’ tops the box office

The 25th entry in the James Bond franchise was released at the end of September and then in early October in other regions.

No Time To Die also happens to be Daniel Craig’s last appearance in the iconic series. Furthermore, it was the first entry in the franchise in the last six years after Spectre. Plus, it’s one of the major theatrical releases during the COVID-19 pandemic.

True Detective and IT director Cary Joji Fukunaga is the man behind the latest Bond entry. Since its debut, the film has received huge praise for its performances and action sequences.

When it comes to the box office then, No Time To Die has marked its supremacy over its competitors. Initially, it was expected to earn a good amount of money during the theatrical run. However, coming out as the number one movie in the world is a big surprise.

Because there have been several other blockbusters as well in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and Fast and Furious‘s F9 installment, the latter was the highest grosser of 2021 until recently.

No Time To Die has now grabbed the number one position with a total of over $733 million worldwide. It went past F9‘s $721 million global collections to achieve the milestone.

When it comes to breaking down its earnings, then the James Bond flick has earned nearly $154 million domestically in the US. On the other hand, it has grossed around $579 from international markets.

The movie is still playing successfully in the world. However, it seems unlikely that it will surpass the franchise’s highest-grossing film Skyfall from 2012. That movie is at the top of the list in the Bond saga, with over $1.1 billion.

Upcoming major films

The box office will see more blockbusters in the coming weeks as the year approaches its end. Next week will witness the arrival of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, the rebooted film entry in the iconic horror franchise.

Furthermore, December will see the eventual release of MCU’s biggest anticipated Phase 4 entry so far in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker is expected to break all the records as far as the pandemic era is concerned.

According to strong predictions so far, No Way Home is projected to earn more than $150 million during its opening weekend.

In terms of the overall total, it might go past 2019’s Far From Home. The latter is currently the most-successful Spider-Man film in its series since 2017.

Coming back to No Time To Die, again, it’s still running in theaters across the globe.
