The latest round of rumor surrounding the upcoming GeForce RTX 3070 claims that the video card will have a faster GDDR6 memory speed.
The rumor first came from notable hardware leaker kopite7kimi from Twitter. The leaker also claimed that a faster and more powerful RTX 3070 Ti is on the works. These are two of the rumored graphics card that will be released under Nvidia’s new Ampere lineup.
These recent rumors are indeed interesting. However, as usual, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt until the official confirmation from Nvidia. The graphics cards are expected to hit the market this year, so details about them should be available soon.
Rumored GeForce RTX 3070 specs
The graphics cards are rumored to be released somewhere between the mid- to the high-end market. This means that the upcoming graphics cards will be extremely powerful.
The standard RTX 3070 is expected to have around 2,944 CUDA cores. This is not surprising as the graphics card is billed for the high-end market. The video card is expected to have at least 8GB of GDDR6 video memory.

Nvidia is known for releasing slightly upgraded versions of its major video cards with the Ti branding. As such, the RTX 3070 Ti is expected to have more CUDA cores at around 3,000. This upgrade graphics card is expected to have the same 8GB VRAM with slightly faster clock speed.
Not the top of the line
Despite being billed for the high-end market, tech experts believe that the RTX 3070 lineup is not the premium hardware. For its premium market, Nvidia is expected to release the RTX 3080 and its Ti variant. There are also slight hints that the graphics card manufacturer will release a new Titan graphics card.
Regardless of its release lineup, Nvidia is once again poised to take the top spot in the industry. AMD has slowly caught up with Nvidia in the graphics card market. With the new Ampere lineup, Nvidia appears to have the answer.
It appears that Nvidia is challenging AMD’s aggressive pricing with the new Ampere lineup. The previous generation Nvidia graphics cards are notorious for their expensive price point. With the new Ampere lineup, the entry-level card is expected to be priced around $500.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 is expected to be a high-end video card. Nevertheless, Nvidia’s expected price point is sure to make it a hit in the mainstream crowd as well.
