One Direction releases new website for 10th anniversary

One Direction celebrates its 10th anniversary, and there will be a new website to treat loyal fans.

The group made their avid followers went wild after their official Twitter and Instagram account shared a post for the first time in two years. Also, to mark the milestone, there is a new interactive anniversary website that will give them a different kind of experience.

A decade of One Direction

“Tomorrow! You and me got a whole lot of history #10YearsOf1D,” the post read. The post comes with a black-and-white graphic of the group’s ten years in the business.

Of course, the band members also celebrated the event.

Liam Payne shared a screenshot of the first-ever text he sent about being part of the group. “I’m in a boyband,” it read.

It was the message he sent to his father on July 23, 2010 – exactly ten years ago.

“What a journey,” he captioned the snap. “I had no idea what we were in for when I sent this text to my Dad ten years ago at this exact time the band was formed.

“Thanks to everyone that’s supported us over the years, and thanks to the boys for sharing this with me #10YearsOfOneDirection,” the tweet continued.

An interactive website for the fans

According to Mirror Online, there will be a brand new One Direction website to commemorate the group’s 10th anniversary. It will give fans an interactive and immersive experience as a treat for their loyalty.

The updated site of the band is now live, and it will welcome fans with a huge hashtag, #10Yearsof1D. It will ask fans to relive their moments with the group and will take them to a new window, where they can personalize an extra-special anniversary mixtape.

However, fans can only do it if they connect to Spotify or Apple Music. Here, they can create a playlist based on the era they saw One Direction performed.

“Celebrate 10 years of One Direction by rediscovering their journey, right from the very beginning,” it read. “Keep an eye out for hidden surprises.”

In a report from Capital FM, it said eager fans had crashed the site even before it managed to go live.

The site will, reportedly, feature a look back from where the One Direction began to their hiatus in 2015. It will also give fans a glimpse of some behind-the-scenes and never-before-seen clips, music videos, artwork, and television performances.
