Orders for the 100th collected volume of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga have topped Oricon’s weekly comics chart for the week of August 30-September 5.
As reported on Friday by Oricon, the 100th compiled book volume of Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga has sold 1.173 million print copies and ranked #1 on Oricon’s weekly comic chart for the August 30-September 5 weeks.
The overall series has ranked 50 consecutive volumes at #1 since Oricon began posting the weekly comic chart in March 2008. It is the only work to release a #1 volume every year in the 14 years of the chart’s existence.
‘One Piece’ surpassing ‘Attack on Titan’
The 50th volume of One Piece, which was released on June 16, 2008, was the first to chart. Since 2008, One Piece has had the most million-selling volumes in print, surpassing Attack on Titan in second place with 34 volumes. With 31 volumes, Naruto is in third place.
On July 19, 1997, Oda started serializing the One Piece manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump manga. In March 2010, the 57th volume first printed 3 million copies, a national industry record. In August 2012, the 67th volume first printed 4.05 million copies, which set a new national industry record.

In 2012, the manga received the 41st Japan Cartoonist Awards, and in 2015, it established a Guinness World Record for “the most copies produced by a single creator for the same comic book series.”
The anime’s staggering milestones
On January 4, Oda released the 1,000th chapter in the combined 5th/6th edition of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. As of July, the manga had exceeded 490 million copies in circulation (not all of which had been sold). There are approximately 400 million people in Japan and 90 million people in at least 57 nations and areas across the world.
In 1999, the continuing anime adaption debuted. The 1,000th episode will premiere on November 14 if there are no delays.
“We Are One!” is a five-part drama mini-series that celebrates the 100th One Piece manga volume and 1,000th One Piece anime episode. The mini-series began on August 30, and fresh episodes were released every day until September 3, when the last episode was released.
