As the OnePlus 8T nears its official launch, the smartphone has a secret weapon that might topple many flagship devices, particularly the Galaxy Note 20.
Recent reports claim that the OnePlus 8T has the fastest wired charging performance in the market. If this is true, the smartphone will go head-to-head with some of the best smartphone models available right now.
The leak that started it all
When the Android 11 beta leak started, many in the tech community noted the new 65W Super Warp charging feature. Prior to the leak, the OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone already supports 30W wired and wireless charging. If the leak proves to be true, then the next generation flagship smartphone will essentially double its charging speed.
As of this writing, the closest smartphone that can rival that charging speed are the flagships from Samsung. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Plus are expected to support 25W chargers. There is also an available option for a 45W charger, although this particular one is not yet confirmed.

It puts the OnePlus 8T in a clear advantage when it comes to charging capabilities. Recent tests prove that the flagship devices of OnePlus are really up to the challenge. In one test, the OnePlus 8 Pro charges from 0% to 63% in just 30 minutes.
OnePlus 8T specs, rumors
OnePlus is planning to have different versions of its flagship device released to different regions. For instance, it will exclusively release the 8GB/128GB Onyx Black version of the smartphone in the United Kingdom. Similarly, the same configuration with the Ultramarine Blue and Interstellar color scheme will be exclusive in the United States.
One the display side, the OnePlus 8T will feature a 6.55-inch FHD OLED screen. The Pro variant of the phone will have a bigger 6.78-inch QHD OLED screen. Both screens will support a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The chipset is perhaps the biggest mystery for the upcoming phone. For one, Qualcomm confirms that it will not release a Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset this year. It means that the OnePlus 8T will use an old chipset, and instead rely on software upgrades to improve performance.
On the other hand, recent leaks predict the upcoming Galaxy Note 20 Plus will have a Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset. If this is true, it makes no sense why the OnePlus 8T cannot get its hands on these new chipsets. Many remain to be known until the official release of the phone in the fall of this year.
