OnePlus 8T’s potential ground-breaking charging speed is achieved using a dual-cell battery, and both are charged individually.
The OnePlus 8T may still be in the works, but it is already trumping the vanilla OnePlus 8 in some of its key features. The latest to have emerged lately is relative to its charging speed.
65W fast wired charging technology
OnePlus phones are noted for their Engineering Mode app, a feature that is used for troubleshooting and testing specific features and components. Within the source code of the app, it is intimated that the Super Warp Charge fast-charging solution with 65W could be pushed into a OnePlus handset.
Folks are quick to the point that OnePlus could be meaning to equip the impressive charging technology in its upcoming 8T variant.
OnePlus, OPPO, and Realme
For most who have already been following recent developments, this is hardly a surprise now. OPPO and Realme, which share technologies with OnePlus, previously released similar breakthroughs in charging speeds, with the debut of the SuperVOOC 2.0 and SuperDart charging, respectively.
For instance, the OPPO Find X2 Peo and the Realme X50 Pro, at the time of their launch, support 65W charging. The speed is achieved utilizing a dual-cell battery in the devices, both of which are charged individually. Note, however, that the newest technology also comes with some drawbacks. At the helm of this is that it could damage its battery health in the process.
OnePlus 8T: Already a winner
If the 65W fast wired charging ever gets pushed for the OnePlus 8T, then the phone is already winning. The current OnePlus 8 Pro already supports 30W fast wired charging and 30W wireless charging. As it stands, this is more than double the speed.
When the OnePlus 8 Pro was unveiled, OnePlus already claimed that its charging speed is plenty fast. Its included wired charger took the phone from zero to 63% in only 30 minutes.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series, on the other hand, is expected to launch with 25W chargers, plus a 45W alternative. This is similar to that of the Galaxy S20 series. The Galaxy S20 Ultra’s bundled 25W charger also delivered 63% juice in just 30 minutes. And with a 45W charger, it is tipped that the same device can be charged to up to 70% in 30 minutes.
The OnePlus 8T could undoubtedly be in the works now to arrive with the 65W fast charging output, as OnePlus already registered a new charger capable of the said performance with the German certification service TÜV Rheinland in May 2020.
