Alongside the OnePlus 8T, the brand also featured the launch of its affordable true wireless earphones, the OnePlus Buds Z.
OnePlus had launched the OnePlus Buds earlier this year alongside the OnePlus Nord at a $79 price.
As was the case with the brand’s Bullets Wireless and the Bullets Wireless Z, the Z version of the said product comes with a few compromises at a lower price. The Buds come in only two standard colors, gray and white.
However, the brand also talked about a special edition of the OnePlus Buds, designed by Steven Harrington. The product is a little more expensive than the standard OnePlus Buds Z.
OnePlus Buds Z: Specifications
OnePlus Buds Z comes with a 20-hour battery life instead of the 30-hour battery life of the OnePlus Buds.
Both of them support fast charging via the USB-C cable. However, a charging adapter is not provided in the box.
The bass drivers are also comparatively smaller in size at 10mm than the 13.4mm drivers in the Buds.
The users should not experience a huge difference in bass performance because the Buds Z comes with a full in-ear design assisted with silicone ear tips. The Buds feature a half in-ear design, losing some bass due to the earbud’s structure.
According to a report by GSM Arena, there is a slight upgrade in the Buds Z in the form of water protection. The Buds only came with an IPX4 water resistance rating, but the Buds Z comes with IP55.
The Buds Z comes with Google’s Fast Pair technology, which helps in speedy and stable connections, according to a report by 9to5 Google.
The Buds Z also has various software tweakings that will make the experience better. Features like Bass Boost, low latency mode, and 3D stereo powered by Dolby Atmos would come in handy in specific situations.
Buds Z also comes with in-call voice reduction to help through calls via the Buds Z. It also has touch-sensitive controls and AI features that would pause the music if removed from the ears.
Pricing and availability
The Buds Z, unlike the 8T, will take some time to be available for the consumers. In most of the markets, the OnePlus Buds Z will start shipping by the beginning of November.
The price of the Buds Z at $50 is also pretty consistent throughout various markets. The Special Edition variant of Buds Z costs $60.
