The OnePlus Nord is OnePlus’ first and legitimate smartphone entry in the mid-range segment.
The OnePlus Nord is finally official. The device, which serves as OnePlus’ first serious attempt at the mid-range game, embodies all the “Never Settle” feels the company has always been known for in the flagship competition.
OnePlus Nord: Fluid AMOLED with a 90Hz refresh rate, rear quad cameras
In terms of display and design, the Nord smartphone features a 6.44-inch Fluid AMOLED screen and a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The display also packs a modest 90Hz refresh rate, with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protecting its front and back panels.
The phone’s screen also has an embedded fingerprint scanner; users can also opt for face unlock. Support for sRGB and P3 display modes are also included. The phone’s display isn’t HDR-compliant, however.
The OnePlus Nord also features a pill-shaped cutout on its display. This houses 32MP wide and 8MP ultrawide front-facing shooters.
On its rear, the Nord sports quadruple shooters. A 48MP wide camera headlines the snappers, that is equipped with OIS and EIS features. The primary camera is then coupled with an 8MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro module.
While the Nord can shoot 4K videos, it is only capped at 30 fps. Though when one uses the front camera, it is capable of shooting 4K videos at 60 fps.
Snapdragon 765G chip
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G system on a chip then powers the Nord smartphone. While the phone is a proper mid-range, the chip’s inclusion indicates that the phone supports 5G connectivity.
The phone also offers 8GB/12GB of RAM tiers and 64GB/128GB/256GB of UFS 2.1 onboard storage options. A 4,115mAh battery is also confirmed for the device, with support for 30W fast wired charging.
Note as well that the Nord’s retail box comes with a Warp Charge 30T charger. OnePlus claims that it can push a drained battery to up to 70% in half an hour.
Running the software department of the device is OxygenOS 10.0, based on the latest Android 10. The OnePlus Nord is also home to Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and UBS Type-C.
Pricing and availability
The OnePlus Nord carries a starting price tag of EUR 400 for the base variant, while the top-tier 12GB/256GB edition retails for EUR 500. The device is slated to be launched in Asia and Europe first. It can be availed through the official OnePlus website and its partner stores and carriers.
The OnePlus Nord comes in two color finishes – Blue Marble and Gray Onyx.
