The purported OnePlus Nord Lite was mysteriously listed on Geekbench recently, alongside the hotly-anticipated OnePlus Nord.
Unless you’re lurking under a rock, the OnePlus Nord could very well be the most awaited smartphone in 2020. Well, not until its alleged sibling will launch with it.
A “Lite” OnePlus Nord could now be in the works
A new OnePlus device has just been caught on Geekbench, right with its own listing. Bearing the model number BE2028, the listing indicates a phone that is clocked at 1.71 GHz, a slightly different figure than that of the regular Nord, which is clocked typically at 1.80 GHz.
In addition, the listing revealed that the OnePlus Nord Lite features 6GB of RAM. This is yet another difference that can be gleaned between the two, with the vanilla Nord listed with a more substantial 12GB of RAM.
Snapdragon 690 SoC
Noted leakster Digital Chat Station also recently supported the existence of the “Lite” variant. Accordingly, the device is yet another OnePlus phone that is now on the cards. The tipster added that the handset could also be slated to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 690 chipset.
Incidentally, Qualcomm has also announced the Snapdragon 690 SoC in June. It serves as the first chipset to come out of the Snapdragon 600 series, supporting 5G. The chip boasts eight Kryo 560 CPU cores, which run at up to 1.7GHz. This is similar to what has already been spotted on the Geekbench listing.
Two things
Now, the rumored OnePlus Nord Lite could be born out from the grapevine for two reasons. First, OnePlus could only be working on a “Lite” variant but may unveil it later and not with the imminent OnePlus Nord.
Second, the “Lite” edition of the OnePlus Nord could also be just an early version of the said smartphone, and that it was only put out there for testing, right with slightly scaled-down specifications.
Ultimately, the speculated handset could entirely be an altogether different type of OnePlus phone. But if there’s anything that is almost certain, this very handset is quite a mid-range device in the making.
Either way, we are now more than adamant that OnePlus is coming out of its usual shell of flagship smartphones. This can now be adjudged with the upcoming OnePlus Nord and the possibly “Lite” version, which could get unveiled in the following months.
Or, if we are ever so lucky, this can surprise everyone and get released alongside the OnePlus Nord on July 21.
