OnePlus is preparing a budget-oriented device after releasing the Nord. Leaks point to OnePlus Nord Lite that will arrive this September.
Dubbed as Clover, the OnePlus Nord Lite is the company’s entry-level smartphone this year. Reports say that the Nord Lite will be available globally unlike the elusive Nord.
The upcoming device takes an interesting approach as it mixes entry-level specs with some mid-range features. It may have a budget SoC but, there might be a triple camera setup.
OnePlus up for a fully-featured budget device
The OnePlus Nord Lite is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460. It will have 4GB of memory and 64GB of storage. A MicroSD slot is available for storage expansion.
It will have a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 1560 x 720 resolution. There will be a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well.
Features scream a budget device. However, this device will have a triple camera setup. The main camera will be a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The two cameras are both 2-megapixel.
The secondary cameras are most likely going to be a macro camera and a depth sensor.
Moving on to the battery, this device will have a 6000mAh battery with 18W fast charging. This might be its biggest selling point. A huge battery with entry-level specs will easily reach two days of usage.
How will it fare against competitors?
This will be the cheapest OnePlus device at US$200. There are a lot of competitors at this price point though.
The Moto G Fast is probably its biggest contender. It has a faster processor and better specs on some aspects.
However, the OnePlus Nord Lite can still compete with OxygenOS providing a great software experience. Plus the bigger battery life is another selling point. OnePlus needs to market itself properly to solidify its place in the budget market.
