The OnePlus Nord is arriving anytime. The specs are out and the design has been released. This time, it is revealed that the new device will have Google Apps pre-installed.
OnePlus released an Instagram video recently confirming that Google Apps are default in the OnePlus Nord. These apps include Google Phone and Google Messages.
The majority of smartphone OEMs often replace the default Google apps with their own version. It is the first time in a while that OnePlus opted to ship their device with default Google Apps.
OnePlus Nord aims to provide a smooth experience
OnePlus explained the move through the Instagram video. According to the company, the decision is made to provide a smoother experience to its users.
The company implied that Google Apps are “smoother” to use. Hence, OnePlus opted to replace its long-time dialer and messaging app.
Besides the smooth experience, Google Phone and Google Messages have a sleek and clean looking UI. It also means that OnePlus will have more time focusing on other aspects of the device.
OnePlus frees up its development team with this move. Google will be the one providing the company with updates on the default apps. This keeps Phone, Messages, and other default apps up to date whenever Google rolls out a new version.
Google Duo is also set to arrive at the OnePLus Nord. It is one of the few apps that arrive in almost every Android device. It is a no-brainer that this app will arrive on the upcoming device.
Google Phone is widely used in Asia
In Asian countries such as India, Google Phone is one of the native apps that is widely used. OnePlus, on the other hand, has a large market share in India. It is one of the few brands that offer excellent workmanship at an affordable price.
Having Google Phone on OnePlus phones by default might attract potential buyers to the brand. This decision is a wise choice considering that there is an on-going clash between Indian and Chinese troops.
India has already pulled out Chinese apps from the Google Play Store. If the trend continues, it is not long until the country bans the importation of several Chinese handsets.
Having Google Apps by default might have a connotation that user data is more secure. Several government units are debating on whether Chinese apps are malicious. Thus, people may prefer to use an App from a well-known brand.

The Nord will sport a quad-camera setup. It will have a 48-megapixel wide main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, a 5-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. The device will arrive with a dual front-facing camera with wide and ultrawide sensors.
There are no battery life predictions as of the moment. It will have a 4115 mAh battery which is quite small by today’s standards. However, device optimization dictates battery life. Hopefully, OnePlus does a great job this time.

By basing on the rumors and the market trend, the OnePlus Nord might arrive with a US$600 price tag. It is all geared up to take on the upper-midrange market for the next half of the year.
