According to the recent announcements made by OnePlus, the Zen Mode would be getting some significant upgrades and would be available for non-OnePlus devices as well.
OnePlus created Zen Mode as one of the brand’s solutions to reduce smartphone addiction.
When switched on, the user cannot do anything on the phone except receive calls, make emergency calls, and use the camera. The Zen Mode also silences all notifications and is a great way to break from the digital world.
The Zen Mode’s previous update could be switched on for 20, 30, 40, or 60 minutes.
The Zen Mode is an in-built feature; hence, there were no shortcuts to end the Zen Mode, unlike third-party applications.
Users loved this feature since it allows them to be more productive. However, it is only exclusively available for OnePlus users only.
According to a report by Slash Gear, OnePlus will launch the Zen Mode 2.0 for the brand’s own devices and other smartphones as well.
Zen Mode for other smartphones
According to the report, the brand had to take such a step because of its new feature, Group Rooms.
The new feature teased earlier would create a room for the invited people to stop using their phones while in a meeting or a family gathering.
OnePlus would have wished that more people start using their phones, but sacrifices had to be made for the new feature to succeed.
The Zen Mode will be available to users having the latest version of the application installed from the respective app stores.
However, when writing this article, the application is still not available for non-OnePlus devices since Zen Mode is still in beta testing for multiple OnePlus phones.
Also, according to a report by 9to5 Google, the latest Zen Mode will not be available for the OnePlus devices that could not get the Android 10.
If one tries to send an invite link to a non-OnePlus device owner, the link will open in another browser.
Another challenge for OnePlus would be to remove all the loopholes since Zen Mode would now be a third-party application for all non-OnePlus devices.
Zen Mode 2.0: All that’s new
Apart from inviting friends for a quarantine party, users now would also be able to take a photo at the end to commemorate the moment.
The beta version of the Zen Mode also brings five beautiful themes, which the users can access by swiping on the Zen Mode app. Users also have more fixed time presets now, with the addition of one minute, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes.
