The OPPO A12 sets itself apart from a slew of OPPO releases in April, being the most affordable, entry-level phone in the bunch.
OPPO is on all fours unveiling mid-tier smartphones as of late. In just a couple of days, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer managed to release a slew of phones, which include the OPPO A92s, OPPO Find X2 Lite, and OPPO Find X2 Neo – all of which belong under the same mid-range segment.
Today, OPPO is breaking the monotony as it announced the OPPO A12, its first budget-friendly smartphone in April.
Decent, near bezel-less display
The OPPO A12 is built around a 6.22-inch IPS LCD display, with a resolution of 720 x 1,560 pixels. The phone also boasts a superb, almost bezel-less screen that is only interrupted by a waterdrop-style notch which houses its front-facing camera. Accordingly, the phone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and Blue Light Shield, which on paper, should safeguard users against the blue light that emanates from the screen.
The OPPO A12 employs a plastic frame and back panel.
Helio P35 chipset
Powering the OPPO A12 is MediaTek’s Helio P35 SoC, coupled with PowerVR GE*320, for its GPU needs. In the RAM and ROM department, the phone is equipped with 3GB/4GB of RAM options and 32GB/64GB of internal storage tiers; the latter is expandable via the phone’s microSD card by up to 256GB of extra storage.
The OPPO A12 is working on a 4,230mAh battery. However, the handset doesn’t support fast charging.
Cameras
OPPO went quite traditionally with the camera offerings of the A12. There is a combination of 13MP and 2MP camera sensors on its rear, while a 5MP front-facing lens is housed in the phone’s notch.
The OPPO A12 also features LED flash on its rear, plus HDR and panorama modes in its system.
Other key features
One of the noted drawbacks of the OPPO A12, apart from its Micros USB port, is the phone’s software features. OPPO opted to run on a slightly dated ColorOS 6.1 based on Android 9.0 Pie.
Nevertheless, the OPPO A12 features a dedicated FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a rear-mounted fingerprint reader.
The OPPO A12 only retails in two color variants – Blue and Black.
Pricing and Availability
Launched in Indonesia, the OPPO A12 carries a price tag of IDR 2,499,000 for its 4GB/64GB variant.
Meanwhile, the international availability of the OPPO A12 isn’t known currently
