The OPPO A53 is set to be launched as another lower mid-range entry, but with a new, more efficient processor and a large battery in the mix.
The OPPO A53, which was also launched back in 2015, is now en route to get a refresh in 2020. A set of keys specs of the purported phone has just been leaked, courtesy of an industry source who wanted to remain anonymous.
A new, mid-range Qualcomm chipset
According to the MySmartPrice, the OPPO A53 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 460 chipset. The development is quite crucial as the phone was previously tipped to be fueled by the Snapdragon 660 chip instead.
Announced this year, the Snapdragon 460 is a mid-range processor that features a 1.8 GHz octa-core CPU. This is then made of Kryo 240 cores, paired with the same Adreno 610 GPU found in the Snapdragon 662 chip. It is manufactured on an 11nm process technology.
Additionally, the new chip supports displays up to FHD+ (2,220 x 1,080 pixels) resolution at 60Hz.
Despite the upcoming phone’s apparent downgrade from its predecessor’s SD6XX chip, the fresh SoC that is set to power the device won’t be an issue, relative to its performance.
Two RAM and ROM variants, 5,000mAh battery
The source added that the OPPO A53 would be offered in two variants in Asian markets. These include the base 4GB/64GB edition and the top-tier 6GB/128GB version.
The phone is also listed with a massive 5,000mAh battery, which will support 18W fast wired charging. The device will also be supplied with a VOOC charge to achieve this feat.

90Hz LCD panel and triple cameras on the rear
In the camera department, the OPPO A53 will receive a triple-camera system on its rear. The setup will comprise a 13-megapixel primary camera, a 2MP macro module, and a 2MP depth lens. On the front, the phone will feature a 16MP selfie snapper inside a display cutout.
The handset’s display type is likewise outed. As per the source, the phone will employ a large 6.5-inch LCD panel with a high 90Hz Neo Display or refresh rate. The leak, on the other hand, also revealed that the phone would have a mounted-fingerprint reader on its rear.
While the official announcement date of the OPPO A53 isn’t set in stone yet, its arrival is tipped to be imminent. It is also expected that OPPO will launch the phone in numerous markets, which will include Thailand, India, Indonesia, alongside Western and European markets.
