The OPPO Ace2 retains the vanilla OPPO Reno Ace’s 90Hz display refresh rate and its game-changing 65W fast wired charging. The phone, however, comes with a “first” in the battery department.
The second generation of the famed OPPO Reno Ace is finally official. Dubbed as the OPPO Ace2, OPPO’s newest flagship offering retains some of the key features made accessible by its predecessor but brings about a distinct set of new specifications.
OPPO’s First Phone With Wireless Charging
Easily the most headlining feature of the OPPO Ace2 is its support for wireless charging, a first for OPPO. On paper, the phone boasts a 40W “AirVOOC” system, which is claimed to be as fast as anything on the market now.
The support for wired charging on the OPPO Ace2 is top-tier as well. The phone comes with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging when the phone’s bundled cable and adapter are used.
Powerful Internals
The OPPO Ace2 is powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset, Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset entry. The phone is then accompanied by 8GB/12GB of RAM tiers, with 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage options.
Still A Gold Standard For Display
The OPPO Ace2 is built around a 6.55-inch AMOLED display, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The phone also comes with a display cutout that is placed on the upper left section of the screen.
Other key display features of the OPPO Ace2 are 90Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, 500 nits of typical brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both its front and rear panels.
A Modern Circular Rear Camera Module
OPPO has also jumped on the bandwagon of smartphones, which sport the trendy circular camera cutout on their rear. The OPPO Ace2’s rear quadruple-camera setup features a 48MP main shooter. The primary camera is then flanked by an 8MP ultrawide snapper and two 2MP depth sensors.
Meanwhile, the OPPO Ace2’s display cutout houses a 16MP front-facing snapper.
Other Notable Features
The OPPO Ace2 runs on ColorOS 7.1, based on the latest Android 10.0. It also supports Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The phone also features USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.1, and in-display fingerprint reader.
The OPPO Ace2 is priced at CNY 3,999 for its 8GB/128GB model, while the 8/256GB and 12/256GB variants retail for CNY 4,399 and CNY 4,599, respectively. The phone is set to retail in three color variants – Grey, Purple, and Silver.
