Oprah Winfrey Network reveals teaser and release date for ‘Greenleaf’ season 5

Oprah Winfrey Network revealed that Greenleaf season 5 would be the last one for the series.

Greenleaf series is produced by Oprah Winfrey. It has been doing great since its debut in 2016. However, over the past seasons, the show was filled with devastating secrets, dramatic twists, and a few different things that nobody ever saw coming.

These may be some of the few reasons why the series has gained a lot of fans all across the world. It hasn’t shown signs of stopping since then. Moreover, it appears that fans will be saying goodbye soon to the beloved series after five seasons of running.

Greenleaf’s final season

Greenleaf’s official Twitter page showcased the first teaser of what lies ahead for the show’s season five. With the teaser, comes the announcement that the upcoming season will be Greenleaf’s last one.

In the season five of Greenleaf, the titular family must seek to preserve a united front in the face of losing their church to Bob Whitmore (Beau Bridges) and to the Ministries of Harmony and Hope. Also, Beau Bridges previously commented in this matter and said,

“Bob wants to fold Calvary into Harmony & Hope. His vision is to have all people worship together. Black, white, whatever, and to worship in respect and freedom together.”

In addition to that, the upcoming season will also feature past and present secrets that will threaten to tear the family apart even as they try to unite.

Who’s in Greenleaf season five

Greenleaf stars Merle Dandridge as Grace Greenleaf; Keith David as Bishop James Greenleaf; Lynn Whitfield as Lady Mae Greenleaf; Kim Hawthorne as Kerissa Greenleaf; Lamman Rucker as Jacob Greenleaf; and Deborah Joy Winans as Charity Greenleaf-Satterjee

The show also features Oprah Winfrey. The known star previously revealed her personal connection to some of the narratives in the series.

She stated,

“The whole scene where Kerissa is attacking Grace at the table about, ‘Are you spiritual, or religious?’ I had that. I’ve also had that moment where Grace is saying out loud, ‘I swear to God’. I was a little girl once and I said that. And my father said, ‘Not in my house you won’t’.”

Release date and trailer

In a tweet, Merle Dandrige who plays Grace revealed that Greenleaf’s season five will drop this year. She tweeted,

“I’ll continue Grace’s prayer of gratitude with my own. I’m so grateful to everyone who holds space with us to have the tough conversations, to mend our societal rifts. Thank YOU for watching, thank you cast, crew, writers, producers and, of course, @oprah. C u in 2020!”

Given that season five is set to arrive in June, the trailer is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
