The Outer Banks recently captivated a lot of viewers when Netflix aired the series in April.
Now, fans are already anticipating the next Pogue-style scheme to get hold of the treasure. Outer Banks follow the story of four friends who call themselves Pogues. The Pogues embarked on their greatest mission to search for gold left by the Royal Merchant.
As the story progresses, it turned out that a lot of people have already been looking for the gold way before them. However, the mission became dangerous as they try to cross paths with those who want the gold for themselves.
Outer Banks season 1 ended with a cliffhanger, leaving the fans with questions surrounding the fate of the characters. John B. is being framed in killing Sherrif Peterkin. On the eve of the storm, the Pogues devised an ambitious plan to lead John B. to his escape.
Despite the intervention of the authorities, John B and his girlfriend Sarah went straight to the storm. Fortunately, the teen couple survived the storm and was picked up by a boat routed to the Bahamas.
Did Netflix renew Outer Banks?
Despite having the number one spot in Netflix US, the giant streaming service is silent on the series’ renewal status. However, fans will be happy to hear that showrunner, Jonas Pate had already written the script for Outer Banks season 2.

Furthermore, Pate envisioned a five-season series for Outer Banks, although Netflix has not released any statement.
Outer Banks season 2 release date
Even if Netflix will renew Outer Banks for season 2, it would take a while for the production team to begin the series. The pandemic is currently shutting down the industry to help flatten the curve of infection.

Should Netflix announce the renewal, the series will probably arrive in late 2021. In the meantime, fans theorize on the possible plots that might transpire in season 2.
Outer Banks season 2 goes to the Bahamas
Showrunner Pate confirmed that the Outer Banks season 2 will definitely film in the Bahamas. John B and Sarah will go after the gold that Sarah’s father transported to the Bahamas.
“We’ll definitely have at least a part of Season 2 that’ll take place in the Bahamas, but it’ll all come back to the Outer Banks because that’s our spiritual home. “So we’ll get back to the Outer Banks pretty quickly, I’m sure, but there’ll be definitely an episode or two that has some Bahamas in it.”
What will happen to Jj and Kiara’s connection?
In an interview, Rudy Pankow and Madison Bailey set the record straight for their characters in the series. In season 1, Kiara made a connection with John B, and in the finale, she kissed Pope, played by Jonathan Davis.
The actors explained that they trust the writers’ decision on whether JJ and Kiara will be more than friends or they will keep the friend zone. Furthermore, Pankow and Bailey immediately formed a bond the moment they met. Obviously, it’s possible to bring the two together in season 2. According to Pankow,
To be completely honest with you, I think we found the chemistry before we really got to know each other as friends. That was so special, and helped the friendship from there.
