Outlander season 6 is officially returning to the home screens. Lead star, Sam Heughan, teases the viewers of what they can expect in the new chapter of Jaime and Claire’s lives.
The popularity of the Outlander series has given it the green light for another season. While season 4 was still in production, Starz Network has already renewed the series for season 5 and 6. Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht confirmed the renewal on May 9, 2018. He said:
“Fans can rest assured their beloved Claire and Jamie will be back facing new challenges, adversaries and adventures in seasons five and six as we delve into American history and continue the story of the Frasers as they settle in the New World.”
Outlander season 6 plot details
Season 5 gave the viewers bone-chilling episodes as they witnessed the traumatic experience of Claire Fraser being kidnapped and sexually assaulted. Meanwhile, Brianna Fraser marries Roger Mckenzie and faces her rapist, Stephen Bonnet. In the end, Brianna took Bonnet’s life.

Another twist in the plot is the death of Jaime Fraser’s godfather Murtagh Fitzgibbons. Thus, season 5 has left the viewers at the edge of their seats in anticipation of what could happen in the next installment.
Sam Heughan, who plays Jaime Fraser, has also teased the fans of what is in store for both Jaime and Claire.
He said:
“Yeah they have each other but ultimately, they’re about to probably face even bigger challenges in subsequent seasons when Matt starts writing them.”
Is the production already on-going?
In a Twitter Q&A, Sam Heughan answers a question regarding the production of season 6. The actor confirms that they have already started script readings. Back in May, Heughan revealed that the production team would resume in the Fall. He stated:
“We have scheduled for Fall. Will just have to see…”
However, the ongoing pandemic has affected the production team and has temporarily suspended the operations. Just like the other TV series, the pandemic has forced the industry to adapt to the situation, stopping operations and adhering to social distancing protocols.
