Outlander season 5 finale just premiered and fans are eager to find out what’s in store for the next season.
Outlander’s fifth season drew to a conclusion recently. It ended with a lot of twists and turns that even the avid fans could not have possibly predicted.
On top of that, the show even saved some of the biggest surprise until the last episode. Hence, critics and fans alike doubtlessly considered it as one of the best seasons of the show so far.
Outlander returns for season 6
Way back in May 2018, Starz confirmed the renewal of Outlander for both season five and six. After that appalling finale, viewers are now wondering about the series’ sixth instalment. Fortunately, there have been details about season six revealed by the show’s showrunner.
Season five covered already most of the events that occurred in the sixth book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series titled, A Breath of Snow and Ashes. However, executive producer and showrunner Matthew Roberts still insisted that season six will continue to cover the sixth book.
Nonetheless, it is still expected for the show’s creator to make significant book-to-TV changes. Roberts stated,
“As in seasons past, we always look ahead and behind to see if there’s any way to add in something we’ve missed or bring up a future bit that may be appropriate to the upcoming season.”
Outlander showrunner and star Sophie Skelton unveil storyline
Specific details are still being worked out regarding the storyline of the forthcoming season. It is still an ongoing discussion and nothing is set in stone yet. However, Roberts may have revealed some hints about season six. The showrunner hinted,
“Season six brings us closer to the Revolutionary War. Jamie and Claire will encounter a new group of settlers in and around Fraser’s Ridge.”
Moreover, Sophie Skelton, who plays Brianna in the series, unveiled some of the things in store for the upcoming season. The star said,
“The American Revolution is just going to be a really dramatic, action-packed, fun, fun in a weird way, storyline. Just seeing how the Frasers deal with it together is just going to be really, really magnificent.”
Skelton also revealed that the sixth instalment will be pretty epic, since the American Revolution storyline has been already brewing for a long time.
Sam Heughan reveals details about production
