Netflix thriller series Ozark has grown in eminence since it premiered in 2017. The gripping drama has captivated viewers all across the globe, especially after airing its third installment. After waiting for almost three months, fans of the show were finally graced with the news regarding its renewal.
On Netflix’s multiple social media platforms, it was announced that Ozark would be returning for a fourth and final season. Of course, the news about the series’ imminent ending broke the fans’ hearts. However, for the devotees’ satisfaction, the forthcoming installment will be a supersized one.
Reportedly, the series’ season finale will air in two parts, each consisting of seven episodes. The streaming service’s brief synopsis for the show’s final run is cagey yet enticing. It reads:
“The new season will mark the final chapter in the Byrde family’s journey from suburban Chicago life to their criminal enterprise in the Ozarks.”
Although the news was heart-breaking, the team behind the highly acclaimed series has appreciated Netflix for allowing them the opportunity to wrap up the show. Ozark’s executive producer and showrunner Chris Mundy further expressed his sentiments regarding the show’s end.
“It’s been such a great adventure for all of us, both on-screen and off. So we’re thrilled to get the chance to bring it home in the most fulfilling way possible.”
Moreover, Jason Bateman, one of Ozark’s lead casts, showcased his excitement to end the series with a bang. He went on to tease the show’s conclusion with the words:
“A supersized season means supersized problems for the Byrdes.”
Aside from Chris Mundy, Jason Bateman will return as the series’ executive producer at the same time as the lead cast. Alongside Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan, and Lisa Emery are all set to reprise their respective roles for the fourth season.
Nevertheless, it’s uncertain whether Tom Pelphrey will return as Ben Davis due to his character’s death. If the actor will return, it’s more than likely to be in a flashback.
Details about the plot of Ozark’s forthcoming season have been vague. However, fans can expect the show to pick back up from the previous installment’s unfinished storyline.
The fourth season will likely revolve around the Byrdes trying to escape from the clutches of the Navaro cartel. With this at hand, Marty is expected to take the deal with the FBI to secure their lives and freedom.
As of press time, Netflix has yet to announce an official release date for Ozark season 4.
