The found-footage horror film series will get a new entry after a long gap. Its next part, Paranormal Activity 7, will be released next year.
According to Gamespot, the latest installment, Paranormal Activity 7, is official now. And it’s scheduled to arrive next year. The found footage film series’ first part came way back in 2009.
It’s been a long time since a new film came into the legacy. The last one was 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.
“Paranormal Activity 7”: Everything you need to know
Oren Peli was the director of the very first entry more than thirteen years ago. Being a software developer, he had no prior filmmaking experience at that time.
The film focused on a young couple who experienced strange incidents in their house. Then they set up video cameras in the hope of capturing overnight footage. Although it was shot in 2007, the movie took two more years to reach theaters. It became a smash hit upon its release.
While the initial budget was just $15,000, its theatrical release made around $193 million worldwide, thus, it became one of the most profitable movies of all time.
Since then, several other production houses have also tried their style. However, due to repetitive works, not all the titles became popular among horror genre lovers.
Now coming back to Paranormal Activity 7, then its director will be Will Eubank. He’s an American filmmaker, screenwriter, and cinematographer. Christopher Landon is the writer who worked on some previous installments as well.
Landon was the sole writer on the third and fourth parts of the series. He was also a director on the fifth part. His debut was 2011’s indie sci-fi title Love. Then came 2014’s Signal, while his most recent project was 2018’s Underwater. The horror movie starred Kristen Stewart.
Talking about its proper title then, as of now, it’s not yet known. Till the next few months, it will carry the name Paranormal Activity 7.
Who’s producing the film?
Jason Blum and his company Blumhouse Productions will produce the seventh title. That’s obvious also since Blumhouse was associated with past entries as well.
Interestingly, the first installment of 2009 also helped the company become one of Hollywood’s most successful independent production labels. It’s also known for other famous franchise titles like Purge and Insidious. And even the Halloween reboot of 2018.
Director Oren Peli is also among the producers while also helping the project.
Although other details are still not precise, the next part will continue using the found footage format.
Speaking of its release, then Paranormal Activity 7 will arrive in March 2022.
