Popular South Korean comedienne, Park Ji Sun, was reported to have been found dead with her mother. The police discovered them in their home on Nov. 2.
The news of Park Ji Sun and her mother’s passing shocked the Korean entertainment world. Yonhap News Agency reported that the Mapo Police in Seoul got a report from the comedienne’s father as he could not contact them.
The discovery of Ji Sun’s remains
When the police arrived at the home where the 35-year-old entertainer and her mother lived, they found them already dead. The bodies were discovered at around 1:44 p.m.
As of this time, the exact cause of their deaths was not officially specified yet. However, it was initially presumed to be suicide since there was no sign of foul play or intrusion.
It was reported that the authorities also found a note that appears to have been written by Park Ji Sun’s mother. What was written in it was not shared with the public as the family requested not to divulge the content.
Based on the investigation, the comedienne is currently undergoing treatment for an unknown illness.
Park Ji Sun’s personal life and achievements
Ji Sun was from Bupyeong, Incheon and she debuted as a comedienne in 2007. Her educational background is impressive, having graduated from the prestigious Korea University with a degree in education.
She proved to be a promising entertainer after winning the rookie award within the first year of working as a comedienne in KBS.
Since then, Park Ji Sun appeared in a number of variety shows and hosted television programs and Kpop events. She won several more awards in the following years, and now she was known as a versatile talent with real skills for comedy.

Suicide cases in the entertainment scene
Suicide is a very serious issue in South Korea and many celebrities have also fell victim to this problem. Just last year, two Kpop stars from popular idol groups have died within just two months.
Sulli of F(x) took her own life in October 2019 and a month later, Goo Hara of Kara also passed away. The two are believed to be very depressed after suffering from cyberbullying and mental health issues.
Actresses Jeon Mi Seon and Oh In Hye were also found believed to have taken their own lives due to depression.
Based on the data, suicide is the leading cause of death for individuals aged between 10 and 39 in South Korea. In 2019 alone, 13,700 deaths were recorded due to self-destruction.
