Good news to all Parks and Recreation fans. The political satire sitcom is returning for a new episode.
According to a press release, the cast of NBC’s Parks and Recreation is reuniting for a one-time special episode and it’s for a very good cause.
Chris Pratt, who plays as Andy Dwyer in the sitcom, was also quick to promote the upcoming episode on his Instagram account.
A comical promotion
Pratt posted a quick video of what seemed like a trailer for the special episode. It features Amy Poehler, who plays the main character Leslie Knope, inviting fans to watch an all-new story of the TV series.
She also mentioned that all of the scenes for the new episode were all shot from their own individual homes. In the caption, Pratt wrote to confirm that they have already filmed the episode.
He was also clearly trying to be funny by saying, “it’s the greatest episode of television ever to be filmed in Quarantine.” And though there was no competition, he joked that they would easily win if there was.
He also made sure to mention that they were donating money for the people in need during this pandemic.
He ends his caption with more humor saying, “People in need get help. And we FINALLY get that Emmy. Right? That’s how this works? Ok. See you soon!!”

New episode to help
The episode is part of the show’s efforts to help in the pandemic. Executive producer Michael Schur said that they were brainstorming ideas on how they can help others during the pandemic.
He felt that reuniting the characters of the well-loved sitcom even just for a night can raise money. He contacted all of the cast members via email and he said that everyone got back to him within 45 minutes.
Through the new episode, the show aims to raise funds for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund.
It’s a donation drive that will help food banks obtain resources they need to provide for the most vulnerable members of the community during this pandemic. Fans will be able to donate through a special link.
“In the spirit of Leslie Knope and do-gooders everywhere, please go to www.feedingamerica.org/parksandrec,” NBC’s official site wrote.

What’s the new episode about?
The old Parks and Recreation team put together a 30-minute episode. Schur said that it’s a “slice of (quarantined) Pawnee life” and he hopes that everyone will enjoy it. He also hopes that people will donate.
All of the cast members will return. Poehler and Pratt will be joined by Aubrey Plaza, Rashida Jones, Adam Scott, Jim O’Heir, Rob Lowe, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, and Retta.
The special episode is going to be based on the events of the present circumstance. It will follow the life of Leslie trying to stay connected to her former co-workers in the midst of social distancing.
Parks and Recreation special episode will air on April 30 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
