Patrick Beverly was vocal about his support for the return of the NBA games this July 30. Beverly also said that if Lebron James is playing, then he’s playing too.
The past two weeks for the NBA has been quite a rollercoaster ride. When the announcement that the NBA will be back, fans were in a limbo. However, they have been getting mixed signals from their favorite players.
Several have voiced out their refusal to see this season through because of the present protests in the U.S. Despite all these, many players are looking forward to lacing up again for the NBA. One of those is Patrick Beverly.
Patrick Beverly wants to play
The feisty Los Angeles Clippers guard took to Twitter his desire to see this season through. He tweeted,
“Hoopers say what y’all want. If @KingJames said he hooping. We all hooping. Not Personal only BUSINESS #StayWoke“
This tweet can be read in two different ways. First, Beverly believes in what Lebron James believes in especially with the power and reach of the NBA. Second, he just wants a piece of Lebron’s legacy for himself.
Nevertheless, the biggest tale of this season is the battle of Los Angeles. Both teams that share the Staples Center have stacked up on firepower. The offseason signings of both the Clippers and the Lakers can only be imagined in screenplays.
Prior to the abrupt suspension of the season, the Clippers have won two out of the three games between the head to head. Fans may see the finale of the four game in-season saga during the play-in seeding in Disney World.
Lakers are not in confusion
Just a few days ago, Laker’s center Dwight Howard has voiced out his opinion that he would love to have his first-ever NBA championship. Nonetheless, the unity of his people “would be even a bigger championship, and that’s just too beautiful to pass up.”
Soon after the statement was released, Howard’s agent Charles Briscoe immediately clarified his client’s stand on the issue. He said,
“The statement was about social injustice and racism. Yet everybody is still talking about whether basketball should be played. He isn’t saying that basketball shouldn’t be. He’s just saying that you should not be taking attention away from what’s going on in the country to talk about basketball.”
Briscoe’s clarification means that the big man may suit up for the team in the NBA’s return. Additionally, several players inside the team also clarified that “there’s no divide” within the team.
