The new movie of Ha Ji Won and Sung Dong Il, Pawn, hails a great start on the Korean box office.
In mid-August, movies have been drawing smaller crowds for the past month due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. However, good news cam recently, highlighting the milestone of Pawn.
The Korean Film Council announced that the movie Pawn officially surpassed 1 million moviegoers.
Pawn was released on September 1, and the recent feat is its first milestone. Due to the strict social distancing guidelines of Korea, the film’s release date encountered many changes.

The cast expresses their gratitude
Sung Dong Il expressed his gratitude for the moviegoers’ support. Viewers went on fully rigged with protective gear to go to the movie theater. Pawn has surpassed 1 million moviegoers despite the strict implementation of self-protection and social distancing.
Ha Ji Won commented on her thanks to the 1 million moviegoers whole-heartedly, as they showed much love for the movie. She wished that they will continue to show love for the film in the future.
Heartfelt and sincere appreciation from the actors
Finally, Kim Hee Won and Park So Yi expressed their gratitude too. The moviegoers’ heartfelt and sincere appreciation to the moviegoers is prominent amid the problematic time the movie industry faces. If it were not because of them, Pawn would not reach 1 million moviegoers.
