Peaky Blinders season 6 is expected to return to Netflix sooner or later. And as a teaser, Director Anthony Byrne reveals that a new female character is coming.
Heads up to all Peaky Blinders fans. There are a lot of exciting things coming up in the British period crime drama.
So even if it’s going to be a little while until it drops, the show promises its fans it’s going to be worth the wait.
The new female character
One of the details revealed for Peaky Blinders season 6 is the addition of a new character. And apparently, it’s not just any character, but one that Byrne teases as someone who “gives Tommy a run for his money.”
Byrne spoke to Digital Spy wherein he revealed that they are adding a brand new female character. And as mentioned, she’s going to challenge Cillian Murphy’s character in a new way.
Byrne talked about this unnamed character after a fan asked about the additional characters in the upcoming season.
“There’s a great female character who is new, who is pretty dark. I haven’t seen a character like her in Peaky before,” he said.
He did not disclose further details about the female character though so as to remain the thrill and excitement. But he did say,” she’s certainly not a protagonist and I don’t know if she’s an antagonist.”
“It’s similar to [Oswald] Mosley… she has a similar ideology, and that’s challenging for any character, like I’ve said before… he or she, they don’t have guns or a gang, but they have an ideology that’s like a virus and it’s more dangerous than anything,” Byrne explained further.
Moreover, the show director said that they are close to casting the character already. Rumor has it though that Julia Roberts is interested in taking part in the series.
So is it possible that she will be cast as the “great” female character that Byrne is talking about?
More details
Further details of the sixth season of the series are clearly still kept under wraps. But there are some spoilers here and there.
First, the cliffhanger ending from season 5 is going to be the beginning of season 6. Byrne teased that it’s going to pick up exactly where they left off.
Fans may recall that the season 5 finale closed with Tommy left at gunpoint at his head and screaming at his dead wife. Everyone can expect the field scene to be the first image that they see once it returns.
As of the moment, there is still no official release date for the sixth run. What has been said is that it will most likely drop on Netflix in early 2021.
Fans will have to stay tuned for more updates on Peaky Blinders season 6.
