Piers Morgan wanted Queen Elizabeth II to strip off Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal titles after the latter made some comments on the upcoming 2020 United States presidential election.
The veteran journalist once again hit out at the Sussexes, specifically Meghan Markle, after she encouraged people to vote. Fortunately, some came to the Duchess of Sussex’s defense, like Bette Midler, who called out Morgan in a tweet.
Meghan Markle urged U.S. residents to vote
On her appearance at When All Women Vote, Meghan told U.S. residents to make sure they were registered to vote.
The 39-year-old was very careful not to endorse any candidate, only saying those who didn’t vote “would be complicit.” She also warned them of what would be “at stake this year” if they didn’t vote, per Yahoo!
“We vote to honor those who came before us and to protect those that come after us,” she said. “That’s what community is all about, and that’s specifically what this election is all about.”
She continued people were “mobilized and energized” to see the change everyone needed and deserved. She claimed the fight for the country was something worth fighting for, and they should have their voices heard.
“If you aren’t part of the solution, you’re part of the problem,” Meghan added. “If you are complacent, you are complicit.”
Prince Harry’s wife knew everyone could make a difference in this election, and she believed they would all make it.

Morgan wanted the Queen to strip off Sussexes’ titles
Morgan’s comments on twitter followed Meghan’s remarks. He wanted Queen Elizabeth to do something about her alleged “brazenly partisan” declaration.
“The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles,” he said. “They can’t remain as royals and spout off about foreign elections in such a brazenly partisan way.”
The 55-year-old journalist stressed the former actress could do whatever she likes. However, she couldn’t make “politically partisan statements” while she’s still the Duchess of Sussex.
According to Yahoo!, the United Kingdom law noted the royals could make a vote, but it would be quite “unconstitutional” if they did.
Personalities came to Meghan’s defense
Television personality Josie Gibson made a sarcastic comment to defend Meghan over Morgan’s rant.
“Oh no, she’s passionate about her country and who gets elected……” she tweeted. “How dare she…”
Morgan responded to Gibson’s post, stressing royals were not allowed to do it, Express noted.
“If Meghan and Harry truly want ‘freedom’ from royal duty and rules,” he suggested. “They should stop trading off their royal titles.”
Singer-actress Midler told Morgan to “f*** off.” She also left a comment on The Sun’s clip of Meghan Markle’s tweet. “Here they go again. Always guaranteed to sell papers; attacking the new girl,” she said.
