Google’s priority when they released the new Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 is their affordability and 5G speeds. The Google Pixel 4a 5G does feature support for next-generation data speeds, anyway. However, that barely tells half the story.
Get to know the Pixel 4A 5G and know why it is called the “the Android phone that you want to buy.”
Google has been toying around with different materials to use for its flagship line. From the Pixel 4’s glass switch to the Pixel 5 metal finish, there’s a clouded mind in terms of decision making in this part.
Google’s Pixel 4A opts for a single all-polycarbonate unibody design. The tech giant also made the smart decision to go with a matte finish that doesn’t hide the plastic feel. However, it does prevent the Pixel 4A 5G from feeling cheap and toy-like.
The power key and volume buttons of the Pixel phone are both plastic, but still feel substantial and sturdy enough under pressure. The price bump is worth it, especially if 5G is available in your area, or you’re preparing for its arrival.
Instead of the two-tone look of older Pixel generations, the Pixel 4a 5G sticks with a singular shade. However, it retains the contrasting power button — a lilac purple on the Just Black model.
Aside from the almost perfect design and material used, Google also makes sure that the phone can compete with other flagships. With its superb camera and long battery life, Google Pixel 4A 5G is one of our favorite affordable 5G phones.
As reported by CNET, the Pixel 5 and 4A 5G have a Snapdragon 765G processor. That’s a slight upgrade from the Pixel 4A’s Snapdragon, which has a 730G chipset. However, it is not as powerful as many other high-end phones, such as the Snapdragon 855 processor.
Despite these facts, the Pixel 4A 5G is still speedy and scores comparable benchmark numbers to other devices with the same chipset. Keep in mind the Pixel 4A 5G also has less RAM than the Pixel 5. Between the two, there is almost no difference in performance, especially for daily tasks like launching the camera and opening apps.
The Pixel 4A 5G has a 3,800-mAh battery life and can last more than 24 hours without a charge with mild usage. Battery tests on the Pixel 4A 5G for continuous video playback in Airplane mode clocked an average of 22 hours and 30 minutes.
