Google has officially announced the new Pixel 4a after more than two months of delay. Preorders could arrive earlier than scheduled.
Preorders for the Pixel 4a are up in a few places, including Google’s store. Amazon and Best Buy are also allowing customers to order their smartphones in advance before their official release.
Compared to purchasing for most other phones, buying the Pixel 4a is simpler. There’s just one size, one storage configuration, and one color. So, your only decision is where you want to buy it and whether you want a case included with your purchase or not.
Pixel 4a Preorders are now Shipping
Following the August 3rd announcement, Google immediately opened preorders for its Pixel 4a, the company’s latest mid-range phone. First coming to the US, the device is now beginning to ship from the Google Store.
Ahead of the August 20th launch, those that ordered via the Google Store are starting to receive shipping confirmations over email. As reported by 9to5Google, the order history page has also been updated. With this, the new status of the delivery will reflect.
However, as of this afternoon, not all early Pixel 4a buyers see the change. Some customers who preordered the device still have the following message:
You can cancel your order or change your shipping address until your order goes to our warehouse for packing. This normally takes an hour but can be longer.
Google’s flagship phone is scheduled to launch officially on Thursday. Some are seeing arrivals as early as the 18th. However, most are expected to get their devices only one day in advance this Wednesday.
Expected Specs, Features, and Price
Unlike the existing models, this year’s flagship has only one color (just black) and storage capacity (128GB). Other specs include a 5.8-inch hole-punch display that’s powered by a Snapdragon 730G with 6GB of RAM. While there’s a 3,140 mAh battery, it’s the same 12.2MP sensor found on the Pixel 4.
Starting with Amazon, Google is selling the Pixel 4a for $389, and it includes a fabric case as a bundle. If you just want the phone, Amazon is also offering it alone for $349 only. The unlocked phone in Best Buy costs $350. If you’re going to activate it with a carrier, the store will knock $50 off the price.
Pixel 4a buyers will also get three months of YouTube Premium, Google Play Pass, and Google One for free. Additionally, Google has also announced the existence of the Pixel 4a 5G, which will be available from $499 beginning “this fall.”
