Its been just six months since the launch of Sony’s PS5 console. But now it seems like it’s getting the much-needed attention of players.
If the recent reports are anything to go by, more players are now using PS5 than last-gen PS4 platforms.
PS5 outperforming PS4 by huge margins
Early opinions believed that the latest console would take a long time to gain momentum. But now, it seems like the effect is already taking place, quite rapidly.
Yes, there are not millions of PS5 users yet, due to a lack of stocks in most stores worldwide. However, the interest of players in the current generation console has been remarkable.
And it’s only increasing each month.
As per Wired, 81 percent of the gamers have spent more time on PS5 since its release compared to its predecessor.
Interestingly, this figure is way higher when taking into consideration PS4’s launch period in the past.
The past-gen platform didn’t receive such a phenomenal response during its post-launch phase.
However, there are more few reasons as well when it comes to the surge in PlayStation 5’s popularity.
Due to the pandemic, people are now staying at home most of the time. And while they work, they also love to play as well.
Also, there’s backward compatibility available for the latest console. It means that transitioning from PS4 to PS5 is much easier than PS3 to PS4.
Furthermore, the new console also witnessed a bump of 11 percent in-game unit sales. Again, it’s more than PS4, taking a similar period into account.
So clearly, there is a growing engagement of players for the newest generation of Sony’s video gaming platform.
